PAL-V has just made flying cars commercially available. Yes, you are certainly not dreaming. There is a flying car out in the market now and you can already make a reservation for your very own unit. If you are interested in owning one, check out the list below.

Here are five things you need to know about the first flying car on sale right now:

1. The company behind the world's first commercially available flying car is PAL-V.

PAL-V International B.V. is a company from Raamsdonksveer, The Netherlands that started working on "roadable aircraft" back in 2001. According to the company, one of its key breakthroughs emerged back in 2005 when it discovered the maturing of the Dynamic Vehicle Control (DVC) tilting technology. This allowed them to reach the design for an actual flying car, instead of a roadable aircraft.

Moreover, this technology supported driving safety while allowing for high center of gravity and a narrow aerodynamic shape that is necessary when it comes to flying. The first flight of PAL-V's proof-of-concept prototype was done back in 2012.

2. There are two models that you can choose from.

When it comes to these flying cars by PAL-V, there are two models you can choose from depending on your preference and budget. There is the standard version PAL-V Liberty Sport that comes with a price tag of $399,000 (P20 million), excluding taxes.

Meanwhile, for those who prefer the "full option," there is the PAL-V Liberty Pioneer Edition that sells for $599,000 (P30 million. This particular model also comes with features like dual controls, power heating and more. At the same time, the purchase price for the Pioneer Edition also comes with personal assistance for organizing your training at the scenic location of your preference along with introductory training sessions near your house.

Purchasing either model entitles you to a familiarization course upon delivery. New owners will also get an invitation to the PAL-V Sports Club.

3. These flying cars are safe, even if it experiences a complete power failure in the air.

PAL-V assures everyone that its new flying cars are incredibly safe, thanks to its gyroplane technology. "In the air, the underlying gyroplane technology guarantees a stable flying platform that supports safe landing even in the very unlikely event of a total power failure," the company's statement reads.

This is because landing without an engine is possible with an 18 miles per hour (mph)ground speed on a spot that is only 30 meters. This makes emergency landings relatively easy. Moreover, the company said that the PAL-V Liberty has been certified by safety agencies European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the US.

4. The flying cars have been introduced to several clients in four countries so far.

According to PAL-V, the company's flying cars have been introduced to "selected clients" in the US, Canada, Mexico and Bermuda. "We are very pleased with the response so far," PAL-V VP of Sales of North America Mark Jennings-Bates remarked.

5. First flying car owners will get their units by 2018.

"Later in 2017 we will start building a preproduction series followed by the manufacturing of the first PAL-V Liberty's for our early ‘pioneer’ clients," the company said in a statement. Deliveries of the road and air certificated models have been scheduled at the end of 2018.
