A low pressure area (LPA) was located near Zambaonga del Norte on Tuesday. The weather disturbance was the tropical depression that has weakened into an LPA after its fourth landfall on Monday.
PAGASA estimates LPA near Zamboanga
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that at 10 am on Tuesday, the LPA was plotted 225 km west of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte. It is forecast to bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms over Palawan, Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas.
Residents in the affected areas are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Meanwhile, light to moderate rains will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of MIMAROPA, CALABARZON and Visayas.
‘Auring’ weakens into LPA
Tropical depression “Auring” has weakened into an LPA after its fourth landfall on Monday. All public warning signals were lifted following the announcement. However, as forecast, the LPA continued to bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Bicol Region, Samar provinces and parts of Visayas.
“Auring” made its first landfall in Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte on Sunday afternoon before hitting land three more times in Bohol province. It is the country’s first cyclone in 2017 which sent thousands of affected residents evacuating to higher grounds amid warnings of flash floods and landslide.
The next update on the weather disturbance will be issued at 5 pm today, as per announcement of PAGASA on their Facebook Page.
