Even if the month of April has just started, gamers are already looking forward to May because a number of new video game releases are lined up for the next month. These include titles from known publishers such as Bethesda Softworks, Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment, Nintendo and also releases from independent developers. Listed below are five new video games slated to be released in May.

Five New Video Game Releases In May:

1. "Prey" (Release date: May 5)

"Prey" is a first-person shooter video game with role-playing elements. It is a reimagining of the 2006 game of the same name. It is developed by Arkane Studios, which is known for the "Dishonored" series, and is published by Bethesda Softworks, publisher of popular game series such as "Fallout" and "The Elder Scrolls."

2. "Birthdays: The Beginning" (Release date: May 9)

According to the game's official website, it is a new sandbox game from the creator of the "Harvest Moon" series of video games, Yasuhiro Wada. In "Birthdays: The Beginning," the player will be able to create land cubes and manipulate the terrain. Some species such as dinosaurs, monkeys, trilobites, etc can also be created. 

3. "Injustice 2" (Release date: May 16)

"Injustice 2" is the sequel to the 2013 fighting game "Injustice: Gods Among Us," which features characters from DC Comics including Superman, Robin, Scarecrow, Batman, Gorilla Grodd, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Arrow, Supergirl, Aquaman and Green Lantern. The gameplay will be similar to the previous game for the most part, except for the addition of a "Gear System" which allows players to collect loot in order to alter their characters' appearance and stats.

4. "Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows Of Valentia" (Release date: May 19)

This game is a remake of the second game in the "Fire Emblem" series titled "Fire Emblem Gaiden," released for the Family Computer. "Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows Of Valentia" is a full remake of "Fire Emblem Gaiden" featuring reimagined worlds and at the same time preserving its unconventional gameplay elements. The illustrator Hidari redesigned the characters for the game, and it will also feature anime cutscenes from Studio Khara.

5. "Rime" (Release date: May 26)

"Rime" is an upcoming third-person view puzzle and adventure video game about a boy trapped on an island that he must escape from. Aside from this, he must also escape from a terrible curse. The game initially featured an open-world environment and some survival game aspects such as the need to eat and drink. However, the game developers chose to scrap it in favor of a more linear approach.
