After the splendid fireworks display at the Mall of Asia Complex's SM by the Bay on Seaside Blvd. in Pasay City, the switch off event kicked off at around 7:30 pm with hosts and WWF-Philippines ambassadors Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez. Aside from Nelson and Fernandez, Filipino celebrities Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski and Iza Calzado also graced the event.

"It's been 10 years since we started Earth Hour and the most important thing is what we do after we switch the lights back on," CNN Philippines reported Cojuangco-Jaworski as saying on Saturday. "We really hope to be able to get the message (across) of how important it is for us to do our share in taking care of the environment."

New WWF-Philippines Youth Ambassadors

Janine Gutierrez

WWF-Philippines National Youth Ambassadors André Paras and Janine Gutierrez were also introduced during #EarthHourPH2017. Gutierrez is the daughter of fellow Filipino celebrities Ramon Christopher Gutierrez and Lotlot de Leon. She is also the granddaughter of veteran actors Eddie Gutierrez and Pilita Corrales. Plus, her adoptive maternal grandparents are Superstar Nora Aunor and Christopher de Leon. Janine is currently starring in GMA Network's TV drama series "Legally Blind" as Atty. Grace Evangelista.

André Paras

André Paras, the son of former the Philippine Basketball Association's (PBA) star Benjie Paras and actress Jackie Forster, joins Gutierrez as the new WWF Youth Ambassador. Aside from acting, he is also a model and a dancer. Like his dad and younger brother Kobe, he also plays basketball and even used to play for the basketball teams of the University of the Philippines (UP) and San Beda.

In 2014, he appeared as Chad Jimenez in the film "Diary ng Panget" with Yassi Pressman, James Reid and Nadine Lustre, aka "JaDine." He is usually seen on GMA Network's variety show "Sunday PinaSaya" as himself.
