It's the start of the year and what better way to enjoy it than by watching some spectacular plays and musicals showing around the metro this January. Here are some you simply cannot miss.

1. "Twenty Questions"

"Twenty Questions" is based on a script that won the Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature in the once-act play category back in 2003. Written and directed by Juan Ekis, the story begins one night when friends Jigs and Yumi end up getting locked in a room together as part of a game with their friends. While alone together, the two would have to play the game 20 questions and share a bottle of wine.

2. "Sa Wakas"

"Sa Wakas" is a unique Pinoy pop-rock musical that features a number of hit songs from one of the country's most famous alternative rock group, Sugarfree. Set in Modern Manila,  it delves into why relationships fall apart as story centers around a love triangle between a photographer, doctor and a magazine writer. Viewers will witness the break up first and later discover how one relationship got there.

"Sa Wakas" will run at the Power Mac Center Spotlight in Circuit Lane, Circuit City, Makati City from Jan. 12 to Feb. 5. Tickets are priced from P700 to P1,500. Visit their website here.

 

3. "La Voix Humaine"

"La Voix Humaine" is a remake of a one-act opera that was originally performed in Paris back in 1959. The story revolves around the last conversation a woman had with her former lover who is now in love with someone else.

Catch "La Voix Humaine" on Jan. 14 at the Zobel de Ayala Recital Hall at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater located in Bonifacio Global City (BGC). Show starts at 6pm. Tickets are priced at P1,045. You can buy your tickets online from TicketWorld.
 

4. "Suicide, Incorporated"
 

"Suicide, Incorporated" is a dark comedy that centers around a company that provides suicide letters to its clients. It will be shown at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater in BGC on Jan. 15. The show starts at 2pm. Tickets cost P950. It can be purchased via TicketWorld.
 

5. "Once Upon A Mattress"

"Once Upon A Mattress" is a hilarious fairy tale revolving around the lives of King Sextimus, Queen Aggravain, Prince Dauntless and Princess Winnifred the Woebegone who is determined to capture the prince's heart.

"Once Upon A Mattress" will run from Jan. 20-22 at the Tanghalang Yaman Lahi, Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) in Ermita, Manila. Tickets are priced at P1,151. To buy tickets, just visit TicketWorld.
