Bill Paxton had unexpected died at the age of 61. The veteran actor was reported to have passed away on Saturday. Here is what you need to know about Paxton's sudden death so far:
1. Bill Paxton had died following complications from a heart surgery
"It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery," TMZ reported the late actor's family as saying in a statement. Paxton had reportedly undergone heart surgery and ended up suffering from complications post-op. The actor was said to have died after suffering a stroke.
According to a report from NY Daily News, Paxton had expressed worry about his heart surgery early on. In an email to film director Doug Liman last January, he had written, " Thanks for the good wishes. It will help me face this ordeal."
2. Hollywood has been mourning Bill Paxton's death since the news broke
Since news of Paxton's death emerged, many in Hollywood have taken to social media to express their sadness. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis tweeted, " Nooooo. Bill Paxton is gone. Such a funny, talented, loving human." Arnold Schwarzenegger also issued a statement in a tweet saying, " Bill Paxton could play any role, but he was best at being Bill - a great human being with a huge heart. My thoughts are with his family." Charlize Theron also tweeted, " You were a great friend to me, Bill. AND one of the finest actors to share a set with. Sending so much love to Bill Paxton's family." Meanwhile, Rob Lowe said, " In his memory, on this Oscar Sunday, watch "One False Move" or "A Simple Plan" to see this lovely leading man, at his finest."
On the other hand, James Cameron, a director that Paxton had often worked with over the years, described his friendship with the late actor as one of "laughter, adventure, love of cinema, and mutual respect." "I've been reeling from this for the past half hour, trying to wrap my mind and heart around it. Bill leaves such a void," Vanity Fair reported Cameron as saying in a statement.
3. Fans can still expect to see Bill Paxton in a number of upcoming episodes and movies
Despite Paxton's sudden demise, fans will still be able to see the late actor both in the big screen and television. Prior to his death, a report from Deadline revealed that Paxton has managed to shoot all 13 episodes of the first season order for the new CBS show "Training Day." Following his passing, his co-star Justin Cornwell released a brief statement saying, " We were just two guys on top of the world. Rest easy my friend." So far, only four episodes of "Training Day" had been aired. It is still unclear if CBS plans to air all the episodes that have been filmed.
On the other hand, a report from The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Paxton had also already completed work on "The Circle" where he stars as the father of Emma Watson's character. The movie is scheduled to be released via STX on Apr 28.
4. Bill Paxton had died with future projects in mind
Prior to his death, Paxton had been in talks with Liman for a planned "Edge of Tomorrow" sequel. In the email exchange with Liman, Paxton had said, " Don't worry 'Sgt Farrell' will be ready to report for duty."
Paxton was a native Texan known for his roles in various hit films such as "True Lies," "The Terminator," "Weird Science," "Predator 2," "Apollo 13," "Mighty Joe Young," "A Simple Plan," " Titanic," "Twister" and "Aliens." He is survived by his two children and wife Louise Newbury.
