Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach will appear as a guest judge on the upcoming fifth season of “Asia’s Next Top Model.” However, it remains unclear how many episodes she will sit in as a member of the panel.
Pia is special guest in ‘Next Top Model’
The announcement was formally made on “Asia’s Next Top Model” Facebook page on Tuesday. The Filipino-German beauty queen will join celebrity photographer-director Yu Tsai and supermodel Cara G. McIlroy on the panel, which will be headed by the show’s host, Thai-American model, Cindy Bishop.
Although the statement did not confirm whether Wurtzbach will sit as a judge, it validates recent rumors that she will appear on the infamous competition. Reports that the 27-year old will be on the show first surfaced back in August 2016 however, Esther Swan, Wurtzbach’s manager clarified they had yet to receive an offer at that time.
Adding up to the speculations, Wurtzbach was photographed filming for the show with other judges in December. At the time, she was also in the country with rumored beau, Marlon Stockinger.
Filipinos make name in ‘Next Top Model’
Aspiring models from the Philippines - Jodilly Pendre, Katarina Rodriguez, Monika Sta. Maria and Stephanie Retuya - have come so close to winning the competition in the past. Joining them is Julian Flores who finished in the top four of the previous season of the show.
The premiere date for the fifth cycle of “Asia’s Next Top Model” has yet to be announced. The project is assumed to be one of Wurtzbach’s post-reign activities she is referring to in her recent Facebook live. She is set to crown her Miss Universe successor on Jan. 30 in Manila.
