We have all witnessed stars accepting their Golden Globe Awards with their moving speeches. We have adorned and ranked celebrities’ dresses from best to worst, as they grace the red carpet. But apart from all the glamor and recognition, we have also seen them on their best personality and on their awkward situation.
Here’s a look at the most memorable moments from the 2017 Golden Globes from Meryl Streep’s acceptance speech to Emma Stone’s awkwardly rebuffed hug.
1. Meryl Streep hits Trump in speech
Streep was honored with the Cecil B.DeMille Award for her lifetime of notable work at the Golden Globes on Sunday (Monday, in Manila). The actress took the opportunity to make an attack on US President-elect Donald Trump where she denounced his campaign rhetoric and criticized him for mocking a disabled reporter.
Her speech was a reference in Trump’s stunt during his campaign when he imitated New York Times reporter Serge Kovaleski, who has a condition that affects his joint movements. In response, Trump said he was not surprised by the criticism from Streep and dismissed her as “Hillary lover.” He has always denied he was mocking the reporter.

2. ‘La La Land’ breaks a 40-year Golden Globe record
Modern-day musical movie “La La Land” became the star of the night as it took home a record-breaking seven Golden Globe awards. The previous record of most wins was set by “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” in 1975 with six awards in tow.
The movie, starring Emma Stone as an aspiring actress and Ryan Gosling as struggling jazz pianist, won every category it was nominated for, including best comedy or musical, best director for Damien Chazelle, and best actor and actress in a comedy or musical.

3. Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield kiss
Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield stole Ryan Gosling’s moment of glory as the latter collected his Golden Globe award. Apparently, while the 36-year old was surprised when his name was called for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for his role in “La La Land,” the audience were far more shocked by what happened next.
As he made his way up to the stage, Reynolds, who was also nominated in that category for “Deadpool,” and Garfield were seen in the background locking lips. Gosling was completely unaware of what was going on behind him as he made his way up the steps, while the two enjoyed a passionate smooch.
4. Emma Stone’s hug gets rebuffed
Writer and director Chazelle was named the winner of the Best Screenplay Award and everyone wants to congratulate him, including Stone. However, it turned out awkward for the actress as her hug was awkwardly rebuffed by the “La La Land” director.
After his name was announced, Chazelle rose from his seat to make his way to the stage. The 28-year old actress was also seen going in for congratulatory hug, only to be rebuffed for his partner, Olivia Hamilton. Stone took the indignity in stride, appearing to say, “That was weird, I’m sorry.”
